Winnie Mahachek
Cephas
August 3, 1961 — October 10, 2025
Avenel
Winnie Mahachek Cephas unexpectedly passed away on Friday, October 10, 2025. She was 64 years old.
Born in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, NY on August 3, 1961 to the late Regina (née Burke) and Timothy Jones, she moved to Linden in her teens and has resided in the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township for 36 years.
A graduate of Linden High School, she has been employed as property manager with Jim Den, LLC in Highland Park for the past 8 years. She was well liked by her bosses, maintenance workers, tenants and anyone that came in contact with her.
Winnie belonged to Dominion Church of Delaware, Ellendale, DE and was an active member of Unit 102, American Legion Auxiliary in Linden.
Well liked by all, she would light up a room instantly with her humor and love, always offering a listening ear and helping hand. As family stylist she would dress and advise all with her affinity of shoes, boots and pocket books. A longtime Harley Davidson and motorcycle enthusiast she was a biker since her youth. On the daily she enjoyed Tik Tok, Reality TV, crafting, cooking, sunbathing in the pool and her beloved pets.
Most importantly, she was the happiest with her husband and girls in flip flops on the beach.
She is survived by her husband of 6 years, Terry Cephas; daughters, Brittany Mahachek, Katie Mahachek and Siobhan DeJesus and her husband, Jordan; daughters of the heart, Danielle Eckenrode and Sydney Acosta; sisters, Margaret Kube and her husband, Chris, and Patty Lee and her husband, James; brother in law, Robert Cephas; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, October 16, 2025, beginning at 3:00 p.m. Funeral Services will take place on Thursday evening at 4:15 p.m. at Costello-Koyen Funeral Home, 399 Avenel Street, Avenel. Cremation will be private.
In lieu of flowers contributions to Popcorn Park Animal Refuge, 1 Humane Way, Forked River, NJ 08731 in Winnie's memory, would be greatly appreciated by her family.
