Obituary

William J. Whitaker passed away on Friday, June 21, 2013 at his home in Monroe Township. He was 87 years old. Born in Jersey City, he resided in Menlo Park Terrace for 56 years before moving to Monroe six months ago. Mr. Whitaker was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He was an apprentice with the Erie Railroad Company and then owned and operated The Custom Frame Shop in Metuchen and Iselin before retiring 10 years ago. He was predeceased by his parents Richard and Florence Whitaker; and a sister Florence Bartell. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Catherine Mosenthine Whitaker; two sons, David R. Whitaker and his wife, Cookie, of Monroe and W. Bruce Whitaker and his wife, Karen, of Iselin; a sister Ethel Horbacz of Jackson; a brother Richard Whitaker of Florida; two grandchildren, Brian and Kathryn Whitaker; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be on Monday, June 24, 2013 at 8:45 p.m. at the Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. Cremation will be private. Visitation will be on Monday from 2:00 until 4:00 and 7:00 until 8:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
