William M. Strother Jr. passed away on Wednesday May 10, 2022 at the Jewish Home for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Freehold Township. He was 83 years old.

Born in Red Bank, NJ, He resided in Matawan, Colts Neck, and Holmdel before moving to Bayville 10 years ago.

Mr. Strother was a graduate of Matawan High School. He was a member of the Reserve Officers' Training Program at the Pennsylvania State University, where he earned a BS in Civil Engineering. Upon graduation, he was commissioned into the US Army and served in Germany and the U.S.

Mr. Strother owned and operated the Strother Construction Company in Matawan.

William received his private pilot's license while at Penn State and was a lifelong aviation enthusiast.

William was predeceased by his first wife Eleanor; his son William M. Strother III; his parents Marie and William M. Strother Sr; and his sister Doris Beal.

William is survived by his wife Demetra "Mitzi" Dazos-Strother; his daughter Jennifer Figarotta and her husband Bob of California; his sister June Knapp of Matawan; his step-children, Maria Rispoli, Dean Dazos, and Drew Dazos; his grandchildren Bobby Figarotta, Billy Figarotta, Nico Rispoli and Deanna Rispoli.

Private funeral services were held under the direction of Costello Greiner Funeral Home.
