William Robert Ronald Comerford passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. He was 85 years old.

He has resided in the Port Reading section of Woodbridge Township for 60 years.

Mr. Comerford served in the United States Navy and was employed as Chief Lineman for Public Service Electric and Gas for 30 years prior to his retirement.

He was a founding member and past Grand Knight of Don Bosco Council 5809, Knights of Columbus in Port Reading and was fourth degree member of Rev. John J. Griffith General Assembly and NJ State Commander. He also served as a coach for Port Reading Drillets and Saint Anthony's CYO Boys Basketball in Port Reading.

Mr. Comerford was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Comerford.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Lucy Claire Ewert Comerford; his children, William Comerford of Old Bridge, Kathleen Rush of Galveston, TX, Kristine Wheelan of Prospect, KY, Karen Leal of Cypress, TX, Thomas Kelly Comerford of Monroe Township and Kevin Joseph Comerford of Jackson; his siblings, Betty Martine, Veronica Richards and Richard Comerford, all of Florida; 19 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home ( www.costello-greiner.com ), 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. Interment will follow in Graceland Memorial Park, Kenilworth. Viewing will be on Friday from 2:00 until 4:00 and 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
