William James Purcell of Avenel passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital at Rahway. He was 66 years old.

Born in Jersey City, NJ; He resided in Avenel for the past 32 years.

Mr. Purcell was a communicant of St. Andrew's R.C. Church in Avenel.

He was predeceased by his parents William and Marie McGuire Purcell; a sister Eileen Purcell; and a brother Michael Purcell.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years Rosemary Heideck Purcell; a son Wiliiam H. Purcell and his fiancée Emily DiRienzo of Jersey City; a sister Peggy Lozeski and brother-in-law Walter Lozaksi of Manalapan, nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces

Mr. Purcell was devoted fan of the Yankees, Giant, and Rangers.

Funeral services will take place Wednesday 8:45 a.m. from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue, Woodbridge. A 9:30 a.m. funeral liturgy will take place at St. Andrew's R.C. Church, Avenel.   Interment will be in Crest Haven Memorial Park, Clifton.

Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 3-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
