William Joseph Horan, Jr. passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Complete Care at Westfield Nursing Center. He was 86 years old.

Born in Jersey City, he has resided in Carteret since 1967.

Mr. Horan served in the United States Army from 1958 until 1960; and was employed with the Erie Lackawanna Railroad, later Conrail Corporation, in many capacities including freight inspector for 40 years prior to his retirement.

He enjoyed traveling with family, backyard gardening and New York Giants Football.

Mr. Horan is predeceased by his children, Laura S. Hamorski in 2009, William Joseph Horan III in 2010 and Karen L. Kunkel earlier this month; and sisters, Ann Taxis and Jennie Ruh.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Arline Saland Horan; sister, Catherine Sadowski, of Bayonne; grandchildren, Kevin Hamorski, Karen Hamorski, Catie Kunkel, Michelle Hamorski and Lexie Kunkel; and three great grandchildren.

Visitation for family and friends will be on Friday, November 26, 2021 from 12:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street (at Barron Avenue), Woodbridge.

In lieu of flowers contributions toward parkinson's disease research or to the charity of your choice in Mr. Horan's memory would be greatly appreciated by his family.
