William W. Gyetvay passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at JFK Medical Center, Edison. He was 84 years old.

Born in Perth Amboy on August 1, 1939 to the late Alice and William Gyetvay, he resided in Woodbridge Township for most of his life.

Mr. Gyetvay served as a patrolman with the Woodbridge Township Police Department for 27 years before his retirement in 1994.

He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and member of the American Legion Post 87, Woodbridge.

Mr. Gyetvay was predeceased by his wife, Irene Skazenski Gyetvay, in 2009; and sister, Virginia Lach.

Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Dawn Gyetvay, of Sewaren; his daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Daniel McKenzie, of Woodbridge; and beloved grandchildren, Eric and Megan McKenzie.

Funeral services will be private under the direction of Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, Woodbridge.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to Woodbridge Animal Shelter, Woodbridge Avenue, Sewaren, NJ 07077 in Mr. Gyetvay's memory would be greatly appreciated by his family.
