Obituary

William E. Donohue passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at his sister's home. He was 71 years old.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, he has resided in the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township since 1957.

A graduate of New Jersey Institute of Technology, Mr. Donohue was employed as an engineer with Purolator Products in Rahway and Smith Aerospace Systems in Whippany before retiring in 2009.

He was a communicant of, and former usher at, Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Avenel and a United States Navy veteran. He was a third degree member of Saint Andrew Council 5088, Knights of Columbus, Avenel, where he served as Grand Knight in 1985, was a fourth degree member and former Faithful Navigator of Rev. John J. Griffith General Assembly and belonged to the Catholic War Veterans in New Brunswick, where he served as Commander in 2013 and 2014.

Mr. Donohue was predeceased by his parents, Mildred and William Donohue; a brother in law, Jack Caplette; and a nephew, John Caplette.

Surviving are four sisters, Theresa Konze and her husband, Emile, of Union Beach, Joan Caplette of Fords, Catherine Watson and her husband, Lonny, of Grapevine, TX and Maureen DelPopolo and her husband, Peter, of Union Beach; nieces and nephews, Margaret Knichel, Brian Konze and his wife, Stephanie, Eileen Vollmuth and her husband, Joseph, Chris Konze and his wife, Tara, Edward Caplette and his wife, Jacqueline, David Caplette and his wife, Colleen, Bernadette Buchman and her husband, Robert, Matthew Caplette and his wife, Michelle, Steven DelPopolo and his wife, Caitlin, Daniel DelPopolo and Nicole DelPopolo; and many grand nieces and grand nephews.

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 8:45 a.m. from the Costello-Koyen Funeral Home (www.costello-koyen.com), 399 Avenel Street, Avenel. A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 9:30 at Saint Andrew Catholic Church, Avenel. Entombment will be in Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation will be on Friday from 2:00 until 4:00 and 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
