Wayne Schmitt passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2020 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. He was 81 years old.

Born in Teaneck, he resided in the Colonia section of Woodbridge Township for the past 38 years.

Mr. Schmitt served in the United States Army.

He was Assistant Business Administrator for the Ramsey Board of Education and the West Orange Board of Education for before retiring. He was also a long time employee at the New Jersey Sports and Exhibition Authority, East Rutherford.

Mr. Schmitt was a communicant of Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Avenel and a member and Past Grand Knight of Saint Andrew Council #5088, Knights of Columbus, in Avenel.

He was predeceased by his parents, Whitney and Kathleen Wheeler Schmitt; and brothers, Whitney Schmitt and Wheeler Schmitt.

Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Patricia Clancy-Schmitt; son, Gregory Schmitt, and his wife, Melissa, of Fords; and brother, Warren Schmitt, of Illinois.

Funeral services were private under the direction of Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, Woodbridge. Entombment was in Saint James Chapel Mausoleum, Woodbridge.

A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at a later date.
