Walter Gemski passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. He was 91 years old.

Born in Elizabeth on April 12, 1931 to the late Catherine and Peter Gemski, he has resided in Woodbridge for 66 years.

Mr. Gemski was employed as a sheet metal operator with Lynch Metals in Union for 10 years before his retirement in 1996; and had previously worked in the same capacity with Guggenheim Metals in North Bergen.

He was a communicant of Saint James Catholic Church in Woodbridge; and served in the United States National Guard.

A hardworking man, Walter was dedicated to his family, especially his grandsons. He enjoyed attending their sporting events and other youth activities, as well as tinkering around the house and tending to his garden.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Anne Kasper Gemski, in 2015; sisters, Maria, Jenny, Jean and Hedwig; and brothers, Chester and Bruno.

Surviving are his daughters, Lisa Snyder and her husband, Paul, of Honey Brook, PA and Michele Booth of Avenel; grandsons, Ronald Booth and Christopher Mendoza-Booth; and great grandchildren, Stella Rose Booth and Wesley Scott Booth.

Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at 9:45 a.m. from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Saint James Catholic Church, Woodbridge. Interment will be in Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation for family and friends will be on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to the American Heart Association (heart.org) in Mr. Gemski's memory would be greatly appreciated by his family.
