Vivian Charlotte Distefano passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at the age of 102. She spent her last seven months at Ashbrook Nursing home in Scotch Plains, prior to which she lived very happily and independently in Perth Amboy.

Vivian was born in Perth Amboy on September 23, 1922 to the late Augusta and William Munn. She was raised in Hopelawn and lived there for many years before relocating to Perth Amboy in the early 1980s.

As a graduate of the 1940 class of Woodbridge Senior High School, Vivian participated in many school activities and especially enjoyed being a member of the Archery Team.

Vivian was employed as a Clerk for General Cable in Perth Amboy for 35 years before her retirement.

As a young woman, Vivian was a member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church where she was very active in the Youth Group. Later, she was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Perth Amboy and served on the Women's Guild.  Vivian was a skilled bowler and played in many area leagues and also competed on the National Level. In addition, she was an avid Yankees fan and a Giants football season ticket holder.

Vivian was a lifelong advocate and supporter of animal rights and conservation efforts throughout the world. She also passionately fed scores of cats in Hopelawn and Perth Amboy throughout the years.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved  brother, William Howard Munn, Jr., in 2021 and his wife Madlyn in 2018. Also, longtime and loving partner Albert Monti in 1993.

Surviving are her beloved nephew, Howard T. Munn, his wife Dianna, and their children, loving great- nephew Kyle Thomas, and great-niece, Caroline Elizabeth.

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 600 New Brunswick Avenue, Perth Amboy.  Interment will follow at Alpine Cemetery, Perth Amboy. Visiting hours will be on Friday, November 1, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue, Woodbridge.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Woodbridge Animal Society, P.O. Box 555, Woodbridge NJ 07095 in Vivian's memory and would be greatly appreciated.
