Obituary

Vincent Frank "Jimmy" Rogers died on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at his home in Blakeslee, PA. He was 85 years old. Born on August 12, 1927 in Jersey City to the late George and Lillian Dombrowski Rogers, he was the youngest of 9 children. He resided in Jersey City and then in the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township for 28 before moving to Blakeslee, PA in 1990. Jim was employed at Mallinkrodt Chemical Company in Jersey City as a fire chief and head of maintenance and manufacturing for 32 years before retiring in 1982. He was then employed by the Woodbridge Township Board of Education until August of 1989. A self taught musician, he played the guitar, banjo, organ and harmonica. He loved to entertain and sing. Jim was a jack of all trades from building homes to taking splinters out of a small child's hand. He took great pride in his meticulous work and hobbies; building displays for his train collections, wood decorations, and his garden. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by two sisters, Elizabeth Rogers and Stella Perrone; and four brothers, John, Stanley, George and Thomas Rogers. Surviving are his lifelong sweetheart and wife of 64 ½ years, Anna Marie Van Dolson Rogers; two daughters, Pamela McGlynn and her husband, Richard, of Iselin, NJ and Carol Pichalski of Woodbridge, NJ; two sisters, Katherine Watkins and Frances Williams, both of Whiting, NJ; six grandchildren, Richard McGlynn and his wife, Merritt, of Lawrenceville, NJ, Peter McGlynn and his wife, Andrea, of Rahway, NJ, Kelly Bork and her husband, William, of Woodbridge, NJ, David McGlynn and his wife, Krissy, of Waynesboro, PA, Brian Pichalski and his wife, Alicia, of Woodbridge, NJ and Mark Pichalski and his wife, Danielle, of Westampton, NJ; 11 cherished great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at 8:45 a.m. from the Costello-Koyen Funeral Home, 399 Avenel Street, Avenel. A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Andrew's Catholic Church in Avenel. Interment will be in Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
