Vincent L. Grassia, Sr. passed away on Monday, March 18, 2013 at Southern Ocean Medical Center in Manahawkin. He was 73 years old. Born in Newark, he resided in Woodbridge for over forty years before moving to Manahawkin seven years ago. Mr. Grassia was a graduate of West Side High School in Newark and was employed as a Meat Product Manager with Pathmark Supermarkets for 39 years before retiring in 2003. He served in the United States Army for two years, earning the rank of Sergeant before he was honorably discharged in 1960. Mr. Grassia was a communicant of Saint Marys of the Pines Catholic Church in Manahawkin. He was predeceased by his mother, Mary Biondi Scaglione; and a sister, Rosemarie Marconi. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sandra LaFauci Grassia; two daughters, Annmarie Grassia and her spouse, Callie, of Hamilton and Laura Smith and her husband, David, of South Plainfield; a son, Vincent L. Grassia, Jr. and his wife, Michelle, of Colts Neck; a sister, Lucille Ianneli, of Manahawkin and four grandchildren, Juliana, Stephen, Andrew and Luke. Funeral will take place on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 9:15 a.m. from the Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue in Woodbridge. A Funeral Liturgy will follow at 10:00 a.m. at Saint James Catholic Church in Woodbridge. Entombment will be in Saint James Chapel Mausoleum, Woodbridge.
