Obituary

Veronika "Roni" Maria Jewell (Emrich) was born on April 6, 1947, and passed away on Monday, February 9, 2026. Her beloved husband, Howard W. Jewell, passed away in October 2025. Now they are at peace together again. Born in Walchen, Vockalmarkt, Austria she immigrated to the US in 1947 with her parents and grandparents. She has been a resident of Woodbridge for over 40 years. She is survived by her loving Daughter Krystle, her husband Nick and their 2 Children Cole (13) and Ariana (10). Her family was her life.

Roni moved to the US when she was 9 years old, first going to the Midwest to live with their sponsors on a farm, then coming back to live in NJ. Her family lived in Roselle, Elizabeth, Fords, then settled in Edison in the homes built by her father. She was a part of the first graduating class of JFK High School in 1965. She worked as a secretary at Royal of Amboy and in the billing dept of Rahway Hospital through the 1980's. Howard and Roni were set up on a blind date and love at first site he proposed on the 2nd date and were married February 15, 1969.

Roni dedicated her life to her family and her husband's business. When Krystle was born, she became a full-time homemaker, stay at home Mom and worked alongside Howard in his kitchen business. Never was there a time they weren't together. She loved her hobbies of gardening, sewing and making quilts. Her favorite was to crochet which she learned from her grandmother.  Many have been blessed over the years with her handmade baby outfits. Something that she would make while sitting watching her Soap Opera's. As a past member of Grace Lutheran Church in Perth Amboy, she would volunteer her time visiting shut ins and members in nursing homes. Bringing them a smile so they were never alone or forgotten. Always involved with her daughter's activities she would volunteer her time in the school's library, the pto and was on the bench at every track meet in high school. When her grandchildren were born that became the greatest part of her life. Taking care of them every day, watching them grow, teaching Cole to make the best grilled cheese and coloring with Ariana. Once they were off to school she went back to work at Avenel 4&5 as a teacher's aid. Taking care of the kindergartners on the playground and making "Tiger Tickets" made her very happy and continued to give her purpose.

Roni was a walking Angel and to know her and be loved by her was something special. She will be greatly missed but her love and memories will live on with her family.
