Thomas J. Tanzy, Jr. of Colonia passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Roosevelt Care Center in Edison. He was 77 years old. Born in Spangler, PA, he resided in Avenel for 25 years before moving to Greiner Towers in Colonia in July. Mr. Tanzy was employed as a chemical operator with American Cyanamid Company in Linden for 33 years before retiring in 1998. He was a communicant of St. Andrew's R.C. Church in Avenel. He was predeceased by his wife, Helene Hampton Tanzy, in January; and by his parents, Anna and Thomas J. Tanzy, Sr.; and a sister Pauline Tanzy Novella. He is survived by a son Thomas Tanzy, III and his wife, Karen, of Woodbridge; and two sisters, Ann Nelson of Avenel and Mary Lou Kirsch of Erie, PA; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place on Monday, February 10, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. from COSTELLO-KOYEN FUNERAL HOME, 399 Avenel Street, Avenel. A Funeral Liturgy will follow at 9:30 a.m. at St. Andrew's R.C. Church, Avenel. Entombment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Iselin. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 pm until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
