Obituary

Thomas J. Lacovara passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at his residence in Toms River. He was 71 years old.

Born in New York City, he resided in Woodbridge Township before moving to Toms River in 1992.

Mr. Lacovara served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam era and was employed by the Woodbridge Township Police Department for 23 years before retiring as a lieutenant in 1994. He served on the United Nations International Police Task Force in Bosnia, Croatia, Kosovo and Macedonia for 4 years until 2000. He then worked in Texas as a recruiter for Dyncorp for the International Police Task Force.

He was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Fords, a life member of CPL Kevin J. Reinhard Detachment of the Marine Corps League, Avenel and belonged to NJ Honor Legion, PBA Local #38, PBA Local #600, the Italian-American Police Association, the Edison American Legion and the International Police Association.
Mr. Lacovara was predeceased by his parents, Maureen and Joseph Lacovara, Sr.; and a brother, Michael. Surviving are his wife, Linda Consalvo Lacovara; two daughters, Suszanne Lacovara-Sylvester of South Amboy and Eileen MacMahon of Montville; two sons, Thomas and David Lacovara, both of South Amboy; three sisters, Elizabeth Lacovara of Florida, Maureen Berman of Farmingdale and Rosemary Lacovara of Farmingdale; three brothers, Joseph Lacovara, Jr. of Ewing, Christopher Lacovara of Flemington and Peter Lacovara of South Amboy; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services will be on Monday, December 7, 2015 at 9:45 a.m. from the Costello-Greiner Funeral Home (www.costello-greiner.com), 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue in Woodbridge. A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Fords. Interment will be in Brigadier General William C. Doyle NJ Veterans Cemetery in North Hanover Township.

Visitation will be on Sunday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
