Theresa Marie Vitale of the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center, Edison. She was 88 years old. Born in Bloomfield, she has resided in Avenel since 1956. Mrs. Vitale was a longtime communicant of Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Avenel. Theresa loved reading, baking and the Yankees, but her greatest joy in life was spending time with family. Especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She retired as a bookkeeper with K.R. Electronics in Avenel. Theresa was predeceased by Frank, her husband of 63 years, in 2012; and a son, Thomas, in 2013. She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth, of Avenel; a son, John and his wife, Suzanne, of Avenel; a daughter-in-law, Carol, of Randolph; six grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. A Funeral liturgy will take place on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Avenel. Cremation will be private. Visitation will be on Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Costello-Koyen Funeral Home, 399 Avenel Street, Avenel. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
