Theresa "Teasy" Jackson O'Connell passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. She was 69 years old.

Born in New York City, she was raised in the Iselin section of Woodbridge Township and moved to Avenel 45 years ago.

She gave up her career to teach her children right from wrong. After that accomplishment she worked in the warehouse at Merck and Company in Rahway for many years. Upon retiring from Merck she took on her most important role as "The Nan" to her beloved Sean, Jackson and Riley.

Mrs. O'Connell was a communicant of Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Avenel.

She was predeceased by her husband, Dennis O' Connell, in 2022; and parents, Joseph and Theresa Moran Jackson.

Surviving are her daughter, Kerry Blaze and her husband, Brent, of Metuchen; son, Brian O'Connell, and his wife, Jacqueline, of Hazlet; sisters, Ellen Thomsen and her husband, Thomas, of Flemington, Patricia Jackson of Iselin and Bernadette Desch of Iselin; brothers, Francis Jackson and his wife, Kathleen, of Murrells Inlet, SC, Joseph Jackson and his wife, Patricia, of Murrells Inlet, SC and James Jackson and his wife, Laura, of Barnegat; and grandchildren, Sean, Jackson and Riley.

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. from Costello-Koyen Funeral Home 399 Avenel Street, Avenel.  A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 9:30 a.m. at Saint. Andrew Catholic Church, Avenel.  Interment will be in Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation for family and friends will be on Friday from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
