Steve L. Smolsky passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. He was 94 years old. Born in Elizabeth, he resided in the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township for many years. Mr. Smolsky was employed as a textile worker for many years with Best Dying & Finishing and Fabloc Mills in Murray Hill. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Avenel. Mr. Smolsky was predeceased by his wife, Florence Brondstetter Smolsky, in 2003; 4 sisters, Stella, Mary, Sophie and Helen; and 4 brothers, Joseph, Peter, Walter and Charles. Surviving are his daughter, Cindi Hanley and her husband, Jim, of Coatesville, PA; a son, Steven Smolsky and his wife, Susan, of Avenel; a granddaughter, Sonja Forte, of Avenel; three great grandchildren, Ethan, Abby and Jack; and many nieces & nephews. The Funeral service will be on Monday, May 5, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue in Woodbridge. Interment will follow in Hollywood Memorial Park, Union. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1:00 until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
