Stephen G. Timari passed away on Friday, October 5, 2018 at Center for Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains. He was 86 years old.
Born in Tottenville, Staten Island, NY, he resided in Woodbridge for most of his life.
Mr. Timari was employed as a painter at Saint Michaels Medical Center in Newark for 30 years before retiring in 1994.
He was an elder and member at the First Presbyterian Church of Woodbridge, was a United States Navy Veteran of the Korean War and belonged to Post 7164, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Avenel.
Mr. Timari was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Helen Beregazaszi Timari; brothers and sisters, Frank, John, Joseph, Helen and Julia Timari, Olga James, Margaret Purdon and Elsie Sebeski.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Janice VanCampen Timari; daughter, Gail Zanzalari and her husband, Thomas, of Carteret; son, Mark Timari and his wife, Janet, of Somerset; and grandchildren, Danielle, Brittany, Lindsey, Adam and Kaitlyn.
Steve's greatest joy was spending time with his beloved grandchildren. He loved being their Pop Pop. He could be seen cheering them on at their softball games and surprising his youngest ones with frequent visits. Steve also loved the New York Yankees and never missed watching a game. Enjoying time with family was cherished time for Steve, and after a good meal at a family gathering, cards always finished his day perfectly.
Visiting hours will be on Sunday, October 7, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home ( www.costello-greiner.com ) 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue, Woodbridge. A Funeral service will take place on Monday, October 8, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Woodbridge, 600 Rahway Avenue, Woodbridge.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to Angel Tails Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 5203, Somerset, NJ 08875 or the First Presbyterian Church of Woodbridge, 600 Rahway Avenue, Woodbridge, NJ 07095 in Mr. Timari's memory would be greatly appreciated by his family.
