Obituary

Stephen J. Olah passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at his home in the Sewaren section of Woodbridge Township. He was 93 years old.

Born in Woodbridge on December 1, 1930 to the late Margaret and Steve Olah, he was a lifelong resident of Woodbridge Township.

Mr. Olah was a graduate of Pace University and was employed by American Smelting and Refining Company in New York and Perth Amboy for 50 years before retiring as chief bookkeeper in 1995.

He was a United States Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was also an active communicant of Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Port Reading, where he was past president of the Holy Name Society, served as a reader and sang in the choir; and belonged to the Port Reading/Sewaren Senior Citizens Club.

Mr. Olah enjoyed the company of his family at their home in the Poconos as well as fishing, bowling, golf and, in his younger days, racing pigeons.

In addition to his parents, Stephen was predeceased by a son, Stephen M. Olah; granddaughter, Rachael Olah; and sisters, Margaret Cormier and Lillian Tryk.

Surviving are his loving wife of 65 years, Anita Shultz Olah; sons, Robert Olah and his wife, Maddalena, of Greentown, PA, Nicholas Olah of Sewaren and Jeffrey Olah and his wife, Lori, of Monroe Township; sisters, Dorothy Carpo of Barnegat and Ruthann Donnelly of Falcon, CO; grandchildren, Crystal Wacker, Alex Olah, Travis Olah, Hunter Olah, US Army, Amber Olah and Gabriel Olah; and great granddaughter, Dahlia Wacker and many other nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will take place on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at 3:30 p.m. at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers contributions to Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 436 Port Reading Avenue, Port Reading, NJ 07064 in Mr. Olah's memory would be greatly appreciated by his family.
