Stavros Papagiannakis passed away on Friday, August 15, 2014 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. He was 75 years old. Born in Xios, Greece, he has resided in Woodbridge for 35 years. Mr. Papagiannakis was employed as a cook with the Stelton Diner in Piscataway for 20 years before his retirement in 2004. He was an active and dedicated member of Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Perth Amboy; and loved gardening and time spent with his beloved grandchildren. Mr. Papagiannakis was predeceased by a brother, Nicholas. Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Kalliopi Bougiamas Papagiannakis; three sons, Nicholas and his wife, Tanya, of Avenel, Peter and his wife, Graziela, of Woodbridge and John of Woodbridge; two sisters, Despina and Maria, of Greece; four grandchildren, Samantha, Stavros, Dominick and Demetrios Stavros; and two great grandchildren, Jaiden and Sophia. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at 9:45 a.m. from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home (www.costello-greiner.com), 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue in Woodbridge. A Funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, Perth Amboy. Interment will be in Clover Leaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge. Visitation will be on Monday from 2:00 until 4:00 and 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
