Stanislav "Stanley" Hondo passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at at his home in the Colonia section of Woodbridge Township. He was 95 years old.

Born in Elizabeth on December 24, 1927 to the late Anna and Stanley Hondo, he has resided in Colonia since 1951.

Mr. Hondo was employed as a sheriff's officer with the Middlesex County Sheriff's Department before retiring in 1988; and had previously worked with the NJ Division of Motor Vehicles in Rahway.

He served in the United States Army during World War II; and was a communicant of Saint John Vianney Catholic Church in Colonia.

Stanley also enjoyed hunting, fishing and crabbing; going to flea markets, tinkering around the house; and the company of his cat, Emmy.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Iris Hertling Hondo, in 1999.

Surviving are his children, Stanley Hondo of Colonia, Ronald Hondo and his wife, Susan, of Monroe Township and Cynthia Casio and her husband, Tim, of Iselin; and grandchildren, Jessica, Rebecca and Ronald Hondo.

Funeral services will take place on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at 9:15 a.m. from Costello-Koyen Funeral Home, 399 Avenel Street, Avenel. A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 10:00 a.m. at Saint John Vianney Catholic Church, Colonia. Interment will be in Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
