Sharon L. Platt passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at Brighton Gardens Care Center in Edison. She was 78 years old.
Born on August 30, 1947 in Newark to the late Marie and Armando Pallino, she has resided in Carteret for 57 years.
Mrs. Platt took great pride in her business, The Polar Cup, a landmark ice cream stand in Carteret. She owned and operated the popular business for 30 years before her retirement in 2019.
She was a communicant of Saint James Catholic Church in Woodbridge.
Mrs. Platt cherished time spent with her beloved grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Richard L. Platt, in 2023; brother, Armand Pallino; and sister in law, Donna Pallino.
Surviving are her loving children, Mitchell Platt and his wife, Emily, of Fords, Amanda Edge of Woodbridge and Sharyn Lennox and her husband, John, of Old Bridge; grandchildren, Ava, Hunter, Hudson, Johnny, Jaxon, Julian and Tanner; and children of the heart, Armand, Jr., Taylor and Gina.
Funeral services will take place on Monday, May 18, 2026 at 9:15 a.m. from Costello- Greiner Funeral Home 44 Green Street Woodbridge, NJ 07095. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow 10:00 a.m. at Saint James Catholic Church, Woodbridge. Interment will be in Hazel Wood Cemetery, Clark. Visitation for family and friends will be on Sunday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers contributions to the Diabetes Foundation (diabetesfoundationinc.org) in Mrs. Platt’s memory would be greatly appreciated by her loved ones.
