Sarah A. Eckel passed away on Saturday March 1, 2014 at her home in the Iselin section of Woodbridge Township. She was 79 years old. Born in Newark the youngest of ten children, she resided there before moving to Iselin fifty years ago. Sarah Eckel was a secretary for the Middlesex County Sheriffs Office for 10 plus years and worked as a receptionist at Loren Roberts Hair Salon in Rahway for the past sixteen years. Sarah was a communicant of Saint Cecelia's Church in Iselin. She was predeceased by a daughter, Debra Wall, in 2010; and 1 sister and 2 brothers. Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Raymond W. Eckel Sr.; a daughter Donna Eckel of Iselin; two sons, Raymond W. Eckel Jr. and his wife of Iselin; Steven Eckel and his wife of Jackson; 16 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; her three sisters and three brothers. Funeral services will take place on Friday, March 7, 2014 9:15 a.m. from the Costello-Koyen Funeral Home (www.Costello-koyen.com), 399 Avenel Street, Avenel. A 10:00 a.m. Funeral Liturgy will follow at Saint Cecelia's Catholic Church, Iselin. Interment will be in Clover Leaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2:00 until 4:00 and 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
