Surrounded by her family, Sandra Kinnear passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center where she had her 3rd open heart surgery. Although the surgery was successful, her poor heart was not strong enough to recover. Sandra celebrated her 57th birthday in the hospital where the nurses and doctor made her feel so special with a cake and song.

Sandra was born in Buffalo, NY and resided in Woodbridge since 1967.

She attended the Cittone Institute, after which she worked at a variety of companies for several years including Merck, before the birth of her children, Savanna and Shane.

She loved being at family events and celebrating special occasions with friends and family. Sandra kept up with old friends on Facebook as well as making new ones. Before Covid, she especially enjoyed stopping by the Woodbridge VFW with friends. Sandra loved to read and listen to her large variety of rock music, especially The Who, the Beatles and Springsteen. Dr. Who and the Tardis as well as several Anime series occupied much of her tv viewing. Since she was 12 years old, the family Lake House was her very favorite place. A close second were the pre-Covid Anime conventions she attended with her children along with a multitude of their costumed friends. A trip to Disney had been in her future plans as well as to the Florida Keys.

Surviving are her children, Savanna Kinnear and Shane Kinnear; parents, Raymond and Gerda Roesch Schmidt; sister, Laurie Schmidt and husband, Jim Ellison; brother Dave Schmidt and his wife Michele; beloved nieces Allison Schmidt and Madeline Schmidt; and beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Costello-Greiner Funeral Home (costello-greiner.com), 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. A service will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening during visiting hours at the funeral home. At 10:30 a.m. Wednesday morning we will meet at the funeral home in order to proceed to St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia.
