Sandra Elaine (Andersen) Kalista (age 59) of Woodbridge, NJ passed surrounded by her loving family on Saturday April 21, 2018 at Saint Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ.
Born in Westfield, MA, Sandy received a Bachelor of Arts degree in interior design from Purdue University. Her post-baccalaureate work for Total Concept, Inc. in North Carolina and New York City led her to meet Stephen A. Kalista working on a mutual project for First Boston in Tower 49, NYC. Her artistic endeavors included quilting, gardening, woodworking, family dinners, and reading. Sandy was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Woodbridge where she was devoted to the choir, bell choir, Sunday school program, along with building and restoration efforts. Sandy recently served as assistant librarian at Rutgers Preparatory School in New Brunswick, NJ.
Her love for singing also included The Celebration Singers of Cranford, the Triad Vocal Ensemble, the Singers at St. Andrews Church in New Providence, and the Shrewsbury Chorale.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Margret Booth Andersen.
Her smiling face and heartwarming awareness of beauty will be missed by her husband of 32 years, Stephen A. Kalista; daughters Megan L. Muller of Phillipsburg, NJ, Anna L. Blankenship of Norman, OK, and Jessamy C. Kalista of Woodbridge, NJ; siblings, Laurits T. Andersen, Carolyn A. Percifield, Christian T. Andersen, and Niels T. Andersen; two grandchildren, Isabella and Karl Jr.; beloved exchange student Gesa Bintz; many loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday April 27, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, Woodbridge, NJ. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Open visitation for friends and family will be on Thursday, April 26 from 2pm until 4pm and again at 7pm until 9pm at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home
