Ruth Pawowitz of Indian Trial, North Carolina formerly of Colonia passed away at Union County Hospice in Monroe, North Carolina.  She was 103 years old.

Born in Newark, NJ; She resided in Colonia most of her life before moving to Indian Trail, NC 14 years ago.

Mrs. Pawowitz was a Communicant of St. John Vianney R.C. Church in Colonia.

She was employed as a sales Clerk with J.C. Penny for 25 years at their Menlo Park and Woodbridge, NJ stores.

She was a 2023 Guinness book of world records, record holder for the oldest person to receive a dental implant.

Ruth was predeceased by her husband Stanley A. Pawowitz who passed away in 1995; and her parents John Harold and Phyllis Lechtrecker Scherer.

She is survived by her two daughters Carolyn Krajewski of Indian Trail, NC and Genevra Mirenda of Chapel Hill NC; her grandchildren Karen Turk, Leighann Nafus, Bernard (Trey) Krajewski and Genevra Henry. She has 6 Great-Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren.

Funeral services will take place Thursday, January 4, 2024 12:30 pm at Costello-Koyen Funeral Home, 399 Avenel Street, Avenel Interment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park, Union.

The visiting hours will be on Thursday, January 4, 2023 from 10:30 am until 12:30
