Obituary

Rose M. Gochal (nee Rapach) passed away on Monday, May 22, 2017 surrounded by family and friends at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy Division. She was 93 years old.

Born in Perth Amboy, she resided there before moving to Woodbridge in 1986.

A graduate of Charles E. Gregory School of Nursing, class of 1944, Mrs. Gochal worked in nursing for many years and later became one of New Jersey's first Licensed Nursing Home Administrators. She was an Emergency Room and Floor Nurse at Perth Amboy General Hospital; Director of Nurses at Edgar Hill Nursing Home in Woodbridge; and Licensed Nursing Home Administrator and Director of Nurses at Amboy Care Center before her retirement in 1980.

She was a communicant of Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Port Reading, where she belonged to the Altar-Rosary Society and worked bingo; and was a former communicant of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Perth Amboy.

Rose enjoyed crocheting, traveling, jigsaw puzzles and just sitting on her front porch watching the cars pass by. She often invited friends and neighbors in for cake and coffee.

She was predeceased by her husband, Albert J. Gochal, in 2014; and a son, Gerald Gochal, on April 18, 2017.

Surviving are her children, Janice Muller and her husband, Bob, of Claymont, DE, Douglas Gochal and his wife, Lori, of North Richland Hills, TX and Allan Gochal of DeBary, FL; daughter in law, Edith Gochal, of DeBary, FL; six grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and a great great grandson.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home ( www.costello-greiner.com ), 44 Green Street in Woodbridge . A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Port Reading. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Perth Amboy. Visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday From 2:00 until 4:00 and 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family wishes to express appreciation and gratitude to Yolanda Alvarez for all of her care and love and to Frank Alvarez, whom Rose called her personal chef; and a special thanks to Vera Gochal and the Eucharistic Ministers of Saint Anthony of Padua Church.
