Robert L. Viola of the Colonia section of Woodbridge Township passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2018. He was 77 years old.

Born in Paterson, he resided in Avenel and Colonia for most of his life.

Mr. Viola was Chief Engineer at the Brooklyn Campus of the Veterans Administration Harbor Healthcare System for 35 years before retiring in 1995.

He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Antoinetta Galasso Viola.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Lorraine Dort Viola; daughter, Nicole Viola, of Colonia; sons Frank Viola and his wife, Stephanie, of North Wales, PA and Stephen Viola and his wife, Carolyn, of Milltown; sisters, Orsola Knobbe of Bronx, NY and Teresa Viola of Avenel; and grandchildren, Ava, Robert, Francesca, Andrew and Alexandra.

Visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 beginning at 10:30 a.m. at Costello-Koyen Funeral Home (costello-koyen.com), 399 Avenel Street, Avenel. A funeral service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.
