Robert W. LaPenta passed away on Monday, October 10, 2016 at the New Jersey Veterans Home at Menlo Park. He was 83 years old.

Born in Woodbridge, he has resided in the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township for many years.

A United States Air Force veteran, Mr. LaPenta was employed as a patrolman with the Woodbridge Township Police Department for 25 years before retiring in 1988; and belonged to the Retired Police and Fireman's Association.

He was predeceased by his wife, Peggy A. LaPenta, in 2006.

Surviving are his son, Robert D. LaPenta and his wife, Christina, of Woodbridge; stepchildren, Deanna Borough of Woodbridge, Denise Williams of Florida and Kenneth Braza of Florida; two brothers, Francis LaPenta of Iselin and George LaPenta of Florida; six grandchildren, Katelynn, Cassandra, Anthony, Antonio, Virginia and Jason; and a great granddaughter, Kaylee.

Funeral services will take place on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at 8:30 p.m. at Costello-Koyen Funeral Home, 399 Avenel Street, Avenel. Cremation will be private. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
