Robert J. Haag passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. He was 91 years old.

Born in Elizabeth on February 1, 1933 to the late Eva and Gabriel Haag, he was a lifelong resident of Woodbridge.

Mr. Haag was employed as a tank inspector with Shell Oil Company and Royal Petroleum Company in Sewaren for many years prior to his retirement in 1998; and had served in the New Jersey National Guard.

He enjoyed many hobbies and activities in his spare time including birdwatching and participating with Woodbridge River Watch. Additionally, he was a member of BPOE Elks Lodge 2116, Woodbridge, Old Bridge Rifle Club and Lake Island Pistol Club in Carteret; and a communicant of Saint James Catholic Church in Woodbridge.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Haag was predeceased by his beloved wife, Catherine Mehalow Haag, in 2012.

Surviving are his daughter, Denise Haag, of Woodbridge; sons, Thomas J. Haag of Largo, FL, Robert Haag of Port Reading and Glenn Haag of Port Reading; five grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral services will take place on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Costello Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. Entombment will follow in Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
