Robert C. Evangelista passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at his home in the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township. He was 76 years old.

Born in Newark on September 18, 1946 to the late Barbara and Robert Evangelista, he was raised in Irvington and has resided in Avenel since 1977.

Mr. Evangelista served as a sergeant in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War; and was employed as a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service at the Roselle Park Post Office for 24 years before retiring in 2007.

He was an avid bowler at Edison Lanes for many years with the S&H Green Stamps League; and enjoyed pets, especially his canine friend, Brandy, trains, and especially loved annual family trips to the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

Surviving are his loving wife of 50 years, Valerie Dynarski Evangelista; children, Robert S. Evangelista and his wife Toni of Avenel, Jessica Liquori and her husband Joseph of Fords and Brian Evangelista and his wife Carly of Colonia; sister, Susan Boggi, of Hillsborough; and beloved grandchildren, Avery, Bobby, Joseph, Adelina, Blake and Cora.

Funeral services will take place on Friday, September 22, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Costello-Koyen Funeral Home, 399 Avenel Street, Avenel. Interment will follow in Clover Leaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge. Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (nationalmssociety.org) or Ronald McDonald House (rmhc.org) in Mr. Evangelista's memory would be greatly appreciated by his family.
