Obituary

Robert F. Conway passed away on Monday, October 2, 2017 at his home in the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township. He was 65 years old.

Born in Orange, he resided in Belleville for many years before moving to Avenel 30 years ago.

Mr. Conway received his Bachelor's degree in Education from Jersey City State College and Master's degree in Supervision from Seton Hall University. He worked for many years as a high school mathematics teacher, retiring from South Plainfield High School this spring and had previously served in the same capacity at Seton Hall Prep, Oratory Prep and Parsippany High School. Basketball was another of Bob's passions. He was a basketball coach for many years beginning at Saint Peter's Grammar School in Belleville and continuing through each of the schools he taught at.

He was a communicant of Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Avenel, where he served as a lector; and was a member of Saint Andrew Council 5088, Knights of Columbus, the NJ Retired Educators Association, the National Federation of Coaches and the National Council for Teachers of Mathematics.

Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Annette Romanello Conway; sister, Maureen Conway and her husband, Bob Grochowski; brothers, Tom Conway and his wife, Ellen and Ed Conway and his wife, Joanne; and brother and sister in law, Anthony and Irina Romanello; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will take place on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 9:15 a.m. from Costello-Koyen Funeral Home ( www.costello-koyen.com ), 399 Avenel Street, Avenel. A Funeral Liturgy will follow at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Andrew Catholic Church, Avenel. Interment will be in Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 2:00 until 4:00 and 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
