Obituary

Robert S. Cohen passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Rahway. He was 72 years old.

He was born in West New York and resided there and in North Bergen before moving to the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township in 1973.

Mr. Cohen retired in 2007 after 14 years as a line operator with L'Oreal USA in Franklin; and had previously been employed for 25 years as a warehouseman with Maxwell House Coffee in Hoboken.

He was a communicant of Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Avenel, belonged to Golden Circle, Avenel Seniors and was an avid bowler at Jersey Lanes in Linden.

Mr. Cohen was predeceased by his parents, Celesta and Samuel Cohen; a sister, Jeanette Marini; and two brothers, Martin and Rudolph.

Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Eleanor Schoor Cohen; a daughter, Colleen Cohen-Simpson and her husband, Terry, of Sammamish, WA; a son, John Cohen and his wife, Amanda, of Fords; a brother, Dennis Cohen, of Woodbridge; four grandchildren, Jocelyn and Colby Simpson and Daniel and Alexander Cohen; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will take place on Monday, May 8, 2017 at 8:45 a.m. from Costello-Koyen Funeral Home , 399 Avenel Street, Avenel. A Funeral Liturgy will follow at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Andrew Catholic Church, Avenel. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Visiting hours will be on Sunday from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to Saint Andrew Catholic Church, 244 Avenel Street, Avenel, NJ 07001 in Mr. Cohen's memory would be greatly appreciated by his family.
