Robert Castro passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at his home in the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township. He was 88 years old. Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico he resided the Bronx, NY and Menlo Park Terrace before moving to Avenel in 1970. Mr. Castro was employed as plant manager with General Utility in Jersey City. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II; and a communicant of Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Avenel. Mr. Castro was predeceased by a son, David Wayne Castro; three sisters, Aida Roman, Rosa Rodriguez and Socorro Athas; and a brother, John Roman. Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Myrna Camacho Castro; a daughter, Annette Christine D'Emilio of Rahway; a son, Robinson Eugene Castro, of Sewaren; a sister, Gloria Rodriguez; three brothers, Louis Castro, Anthony Castro and Gilbert Castro; and five grandchildren, Robert Edward Castro, Michael Anthony D'Emilio, Logan Alan Castro, Paul Nicholas D'Emilio and Aidan Robinson Castro. Funeral services will take place on Friday, March 14, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. from the Costello-Koyen Funeral Home, 399 Avenel Street, Avenel, NJ. Interment will in Clover Leaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge. Visitation will be on Thursday from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
