Robert L. Bader passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, May 25, 2018. He was 86 years old.

He was born in, and a lifelong resident of, Woodbridge.

Mr. Bader was employed with Shell Oil Company in Sewaren for 40 years before retiring as Plant Safety Manager in 1996.

He was a communicant of Saint James Catholic Church in Woodbridge, and was a longtime volunteer at  Saint James  Food Pantry. Additionally, he was a life member of Woodbridge Fire Company #1, serving as Chief in 1977 and president of the Fire Company in 1987 & 1988. He was also President of the Woodbridge Firemen's Relief Association since 1982 and a life member of NJ State Firemen's Relief Association and NJ State Exempt Firemen's Association.

A humble and caring man, his greatest joy in life was his family. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow up and spending time with them at his home in the Poconos.

He was predceased by his son, Robert Bader, in 2010; parents, Francis Bader and Margaret Bader Schoder; and brother, Thomas Bader.

Surviving are his loving wife of 65 years, Geraldine Seaman Bader; daughter, Dody Gaskill, and her husband, Charles de Young, of Fort Mill, SC; sons, Francis Bader and his wife, Lorena, of Laveen, AZ and John Bader and his wife, Patti, of Woodbridge; sister, Margaret Beiter, of Carteret; brother, Louis Bader, of Wilmington, NC; grandchildren Erin, Kelly, Lynsay, Kaitlyn, Jordan, Mackenzie, Christian, Matthew, and Brittany; five great-grandchildren Kiley, Tyler, Megan, Jackson and Ella; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will take place on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 9:45 a.m. from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home ( www.costello-greiner.com ), 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue, Woodbridge.  A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Saint James Catholic Church, Woodbridge.  Entombment will be in Saint James Chapel Mausoleum. Visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers contributions to Saint James School Annual Appeal, 341 Amboy Avenue, Woodbridge, NJ 07095, to be used for restoration of the gymnasium, in Mr. Bader's memory would be greatly appreciated by his family.
