Richard M. Toth passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Rahway after a brief illness. He was 91 years old and was fortunate to live a full life until the end.
Born in Woodbridge on October 17, 1932 to the late Elizabeth (nee Olivacz) and Michael Toth, he was a lifelong resident of the township.
Richie was a United States Air Force veteran and worked on flight simulators while stationed at Walker Air Force Base in Roswell, NM. He was employed by Laboratory Services, Inc. in Carteret for many years before starting his own company doing contract work for Exxon. He retired in 1997.
Richie enjoyed spending time with family, especially any events in which his grandchildren participated. He was the family "fix-it" guy and liked working in his vegetable gardens. He will be remembered for his kindness, patience and generosity.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Toth was predeceased by his wife, Maren Shultz Toth, in 2014; sons, Lars Toth in 1983 and Peter Toth in 1966; and half sister, Eleanor Popovich in 2018.
Surviving are his daughters, Katie Connelly and her husband, Wayne, of Asbury Park and Jessie Francisco and her husband, Kevin, of Dunellen; grandchildren, Philip, Margaret, Claire and Paige Connelly and Nicholas, Luke and Timothy Francisco; and great grandchildren, Peter, Charlotte and Daphne.
Funeral services were private under the direction of Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street, Woodbridge.
In lieu of flowers, contributions made in Mr. Toth's memory to Children's Specialized Hospital Long Term Care Center of Mountainside, NJ would be greatly appreciated by his family.
