Richard Hardish passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at his home in Old Bridge. He was 61 years old.

Born on April 30, 1964 in Plainfield to the late Elsie and Richard Hardish, he resided in Hopelawn and Woodbridge before moving to Old Bridge 26 years ago.

He was a graduate of Woodbridge High School, Class of 1982 and has served on the Woodbridge Police Department since 1995, most recently as lieutenant.

Lt. Hardish was a member of Woodbridge PBA Local, 38; New Jersey Honor Legion and Ironworkers Local #399, Camden.

Surviving are his loving wife, Donna Estok; sister, Susan Keyasko (Kevin), of Sayreville; brother, John Hardish (Danielle), of Morganville; sister in law, Melissa Armstrong (Scott), of Staten Island; brother in law, Kevin Estok (Natercia),of Holmdel; nieces and nephews, Aaron,(Kerri) Kyle, Bryce, Jordan, Cameron and Cooper; great niece, Ella; and great nephew, Joseph.

Rich was deeply committed to his role as a police officer, earning the respect of his peers through his dedication, integrity, and high standards.  He took particular pride in leading Squad 7 and Squad 9, ensuring that every officer under his watch had the opportunity to grow in their best selves.  As an Ironworker, his perfectionism and attention to detail were legendary.  Whether building, mentoring, or serving his community, Rich set the bar high.  He was strong in every sense, physically, morally, and emotionally and no one will forget the strength of his handshake.

A true enthusiast, Rich loved his trucks, cars, Harley, and boat; each kept in immaculate condition.  He owned more tools than anyone and could fix or build anything.  He was a die-hard fan of the Giants, Mets, and Devils and once bowled a perfect 300 game; earning Rich the 300 Ring.

To his nieces, nephews and great niece and nephew, he was Rich the Man; he was a steady, loving presence and powerful role model.  He showed them, through action and affection, what it means to lead with love.

Rich lived life fully with Donna by his side.  They shared countless adventures; especially their many trips to Mexico; where the beaches, the sun, and their shared joy made it feel like a second home.

Our world is at a tremendous loss without him.  He leaves behind thousands of friends and touched countless lives with his generosity, humor, and unwavering strength.  We cannot answer why he was taken from us so soon, but we can rest assure that whatever is broken in heaven, God has called on him to fix it.

Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. The funeral will begin at 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, June 12, 2025 from the funeral home. Services will follow 10:00 a.m. at Saint Andrew Catholic Church, Avenel. Entombment will be in Holmdel Cemetery, Holmdel.

In lieu of flowers contributions to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital (stjude.org) in Rich's memory would be greatly appreciated by his family.
