Richard H.
Giannone
June 21, 1953 — January 24, 2022
Colonia
Richard H. Giannone passed away on Monday, January 24, 2022 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. He was 68 years old.
Born on June 21, 1953 to the late Gussie and Hugo Giannone in Brooklyn, NY, he has resided in the Colonia section of Woodbridge Township since 1977.
Richard owned and operated Premiere Video in Long Branch and Mie Thai Restaurant in Woodbridge and was a communicant of Saint John Vianney Catholic Church in Colonia. He was a fun loving, caring, and devoted husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and friend. An avid gardener, Richard was blessed with a green thumb and an eye for landscaping — he enjoyed making his home welcoming to friends and family. He had beautiful penmanship and would often scoff at the hurried and chaotic signatures employed by his kin. Richard adored his granddaughter Eliana who rejuvenated his spirit and made him feel young again. Though he only had one year with her, we know he will be watching, guiding, and protecting her from above.
Surviving are his loving wife and companion of 45 years, Denyse Demeter Giannone; son, Richard Giannone and his wife, Anne-Marie, of Knoxville TN; daughter, Jessica Padilla and her husband, Jose, of South Plainfield; granddaughter, Eliana Marie Padilla; sisters, Diane Bettega of Northvale, NJ and Eileen Nyland of Slate Hill, NY; and many loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral services will take place on Monday, January 31, 2022 at 8:45 a.m. from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue in Woodbridge. A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 9:30 a.m. at Saint John Vianney Catholic Church, Colonia. Entombment will be in Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation for family and friends will be on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions to The American Kidney Fund be made in his honor: https://www.kidneyfund.org, 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, MD 20852.
