Richard J. Fruehwirth passed away on Monday, October 19, 2015 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy Division. He was 62 years old. Born in Perth Amboy, he resided there before moving to South Amboy 29 years ago. A graduate of Saint Mary's High School in Perth Amboy and Saint John's University on Staten Island, Mr. Fruehwirth served in the United States Army in Germany for 6 years before his discharge as a First Lieutenant in 1984. He was then employed as a sorter with the United States Post Office in Newark for many years. He was a communicant of Saint John Paul II Parish in Perth Amboy; and an avid NY Yankee and NY Giant fan. Mr. Fruehwirth was predeceased by his parents, Mary J. and Richard V. Fruehwirth. Surviving are a sister, Catherine McCormack and her husband, Joseph, of South Amboy; a brother, John S. Fruehwirth, of Perth Amboy; his beloved niece and nephew, Nicole and Gregory; and many cousins. Funeral services will be on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 9:45 a.m. from the Costello-Greiner Funeral Home (www.costello-greiner.com) 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue in Woodbridge. A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Stephen's Catholic Church in Perth Amboy. Interment will be in Alpine Cemetery in Perth Amboy. Visitation will be on Friday from 2:00 until 4:00 and 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
