Obituary

Reimund L. Moyer passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center in Edison. He was 66 years old. Born in Germany, he was raised in Perth Amboy and has resided in the Iselin section of Woodbridge Township for the past 45 years. A graduate of Perth Amboy High School and Kean University, Mr. Moyer retired from Avenel Middle School, where he was a history teacher for 10 years, in 2013; and had previously been a mail carrier and clerk at the Iselin Post Office for 35 years. He was a communicant of Saint Cecelia's Catholic Church in Iselin; and a former member of Knights of Columbus, Saint Cecelia's Council, Iselin; was a former member and coach at Iselin Athletic Association, and had coached football, basketball, track and baseball at JFK Memorial High School in Iselin. Mr. Moyer was predeceased by his father, Raymond Vernon Moyer. Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Irene McDowell Moyer; two sons, John Moyer and his wife, Amy, of Iselin and Patrick Moyer and his wife, Jackie, of Columbus, GA; his mother, Marie Anna Pinder, of Vero Beach, FL; a brother, James Moyer, of Smithville; a sister, Renee Thompkins, of Sebastian, FL; and four beloved grandchildren, Christopher, Kyle, Kailani and Jameson Moyer. Funeral services will be on Friday, February 7, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, a Funeral Liturgy will follow at 10:45 a.m. at Saint James Catholic Church, Woodbridge. Cremation will be private. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2:00 until 4:00 and 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675 or Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 Saint Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
