Pierre Jean André Guillé Catano, 83, of Woodbridge passed away peacefully at home on October 21, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Catano was born in Le Havre, France on November 27, 1933. After arriving in the US at the age of 6 he and his family settled in Woodbridge Township where he remained a lifelong resident.

He leaves his wife, Elizabeth A. (Kuchinski) Catano; a daughter, Linda J. Catano and her husband, Robert Balog, of Cranston, RI; a son, Gary P. Catano of Mount Holly; and two grandsons, Gary P. Catano, Jr. of Victoria, B.C. and Aaron D. Catano of Brooklyn, NY.

Mr. Catano honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957. He was employed in the field of industrial chemistry for many years until his retirement from Van Waters & Rogers, Inc. in Avenel in 1991. He was a communicant of Saint James R.C. Church in Woodbridge for many years. He and his beloved wife were married in the parish 62 years ago. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council #5809. His community service included working as a volunteer with the food pantry at the church.

He treasured spending time with his family in his beautiful backyard and traveling with his wife to Bucks County and Cape May. He was a loyal sports fan, a superb cook and an avid reader of world history.

He was an affectionate and devoted husband, father and grandfather and he will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.

Visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home (costello-greiner.com), 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at 8:15 a.m. from the funeral home. A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 9:00 a.m. at Saint James R.C. Church, Woodbridge followed by interment at Holy Cross Burial Park, 840 Cranbury South River Road, Jamesburg.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to Saint James R.C. Church Food Pantry, 174 Grove Street, Woodbridge, NJ 07095 in Mr. Catano's memory would be greatly appreciated by his family.
