Phyllis M. Welfel passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at her home in the Iselin section of Woodbridge Township. She was 91 years old.

Born on August 31, 1933 in Hackensack to the late Martha and Fred Unger in Hackensack, she has resided in Iselin for the past 46 years.

She was a member of St. Michaels Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bergenfield.

Mrs. Welfel was employed as a salesperson with Two Guys and Bradlee's department stores in Woodbridge for many years.

She loved animals, shopping and, especially, spending time with family.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, John J. Welfel, who passed away in 2021; and a brother, Fred Unger.

Surviving are her loving Children, Debbie Lynch and her husband, John, of Fords and John Welfel and his wife, Tara, of Ocala, FL; beloved grandchildren, Amanda, Payton, Lindsey and Steven; and cherished great grandchildren, Cayleb, Noah, Sterling, Cayden, Landen, Owen and Emma.

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. Entombment will follow at Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation for family and friends will be on Friday, June 13, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
