Philomena A. Serak passed away on Friday, August 11, 2023 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. She was 93 years old.

Born in Staten Island, NY on February 19, 1930 to the late Laura and Fiore Caroccia, she resided in the Fords section of Woodbridge Township for many years before recently moving to Edison.

She was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Fords; and belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary of T. Nulty Post 471, American Legion in Iselin and Saint John's Social Clubs in Perth Amboy. Mrs. Serak demonstrated her belief in the power of community through her many hours of service.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Serak was predeceased by her husband, Michael Serak, in June of this year; daughter, Phyllis Ann Serak, in 1969; sisters, Frances LaMana and Rose Caroccia; and brothers, Carmine, Nicholas, Lorenzo, Joseph and Vito Caroccia.

Surviving are her loving daughters, Barbara Peterson and her husband, Norman, of Glen Gardner, Loretta McNamara and her husband, Peter, of Manahawkin and Rose Richter and her husband, Alan, of Ocean City; brother, Fiore Caroccia, Jr.; grandchildren, Norman Peterson and his wife, Heather, Michael Peterson and his wife, Rachelle, Peter McNamara and his wife, Brittney and Melissa Campbell and her husband, Ian; great grandchildren, Norman, Evelyn, Wesley, Luke and Holden; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will take place on Monday, August 21, 2023 at 9:45 a.m. from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home (costello-greiner.com), 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue in Woodbridge followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Fords. Interment will be in Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation for family and friends will be on Sunday, August 20, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
