It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Peter J. Torra, Jr. on Monday, May 20, 2013 at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy. He was 66 years old. Born in Hoboken, he resided in Perth Amboy before moving to Woodbridge 10 years ago. Mr. Torra retired from Macy's Department Store in Woodbridge Center in 2010 where he had worked in logistics for 25 years. He owned and operated the Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream Store on Smith Street in Perth Amboy for 10 years until 1990. He was a communicant of Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Avenel. Pete assisted many people over the years as an active friend of Bill W. Mr. Torra was predeceased by his parents, Frances and Peter J. Torra, Sr. He is survived and will be greatly missed by his devoted wife of 41 years, Mary Ann Alach Torra; his beloved children, Peter J. Torra III and his wife Stephanie Elgueta Torra and Melissa Torra and her fiancé Jim Connors; three sisters, Lynn Torra, Carol Goggi and Judith Faber; his cherished granddaughters, Marisol and Emilia Torra; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was happily awaiting the birth of his first grandson, Peter J. Torra IV. Funeral will take place on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. from the Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue in Woodbridge. A Funeral Liturgy will follow at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Andrew Catholic Church, Avenel. Interment will be in Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
