Peter J. Capitano, Jr. of the Iselin section of Woodbridge Township passed away on Friday, June 14, 2024 at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital at Rahway.  He was 84 years old.

Born in Bayonne, NJ; He resided in Colonia for most of his life before moving to Iselin 12 years ago.

Mr. Capitano was a graduate of Montclair State University where he earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees and was on the Basketball team at the college.

He was a long-time educator for The Woodbridge Township Board of Education at The Robert Mascenik School #26 in Iselin for over 40 years educating generations of families. And was a longtime member of The Woodbridge Township Education Association.

Pete was very active in the Woodbridge Community and was a member of the Woodbridge Township and Middlesex County Democratic Associations and served as a Committeeman for many years.

He was predeceased by his wife Marie Cimello Capitano who passed away in 2013; his son Peter J. Capitano, III who passed away in 2018; his parents Peter J. and Anna Capitano.

He is survived by his daughter Jeannine Capitano and her husband Patrick Ryan of Woodbridge; his brother Joseph Capitano of Bayonne; a grandson Ryan Coyle of Woodbridge; a sister-in-law Christine Capitano of Bayonne; and a Niece Jessica Capitano.

The Visitation will take place on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue in Woodbridge, Cremation will be private.

A Prayer service will held during the visitation at 4:45 pm
