Nina Rebecca Geist of the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at J F K Medical Center in Edison. She was 93 years old.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA, she lived in Jersey City and Palm Bay Florida before moving to Avenel in 2016.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Perth Amboy.

Mrs. Geist was a clerk for Lightolier in Jersey City for many years before retiring in 1989.

She was predceased by her husband, William Geist, in 1997; a son, William H. Geist, Jr., in 2006; her parents, William and Minnie Horner Mackintosh; sisters, Mary Mackintosh Doyle, June Sluter and Carolann Klimowicz; brothers, William Mackintosh, Thomas Mackintosh, Robert Mackintosh and John Mackintosh.

She is survived by a daughter, Nina Merciadez, and husband, Mel, of Avenel; three granchildren, Michelle Merciadez and her husband, David, and Angela Merciadez, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral serives will take place on Monday, June 5, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 600 New Brunswick Avenue, Perth Amboy. Interment will follow in Cloverleaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge. Visiting hours will be on Sunday, June 4, 2017 from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. at Costello-Koyen Funeral Home ( www.costello-koyen.com ) 399 Avenel Street, Avenel.
