Dr. Nancy A. Spiller Colonia High School Department head, dedicated teacher, devoted wife and mother with compassion for her entire staff and all her students. Nancy A. (Dragos) Spiller 48, a lifelong resident of Colonia, NJ passed away on September 4, 2014 at St. Peters Medical Center in New Brunswick. Visiting hours are on Monday from 3:00 until 7:30 p.m. at the Costello-Greiner Funeral Home (www.Costello-greiner.com), 44 Green St., Woodbridge, NJ. The Funeral will take place on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at 9:45 a.m. from the funeral home. A Funeral Liturgy will follow at 10:30 a.m. at St. James R.C. Church, Amboy Avenue, Woodbridge. Interment will be in St. Gertrude's Cemetery, Colonia. Nancy was a History and Social Studies teacher at Colonia High School for the past 25 years, and enjoyed being senior yearbook advisor for 13 years. She was an outstanding teacher who her staff and students admired and respected. She was a 1984 graduate of Colonia High School, a member of the National Honor Society, graduated in the top 20 of her class. She was selected a Union Carbide Washington Scholar in 1983, and to New Jersey Girls State. Dr. Nancy graduated from Drew University in 1988, one of 26 students nominated by Drew in 1987 of Who's Who among students in American Universities. Nancy obtained her Masters degree in 1989 from the University Of Pennsylvania Graduate School Of Education, and obtained her Doctor of Letters from Drew University in 2001 wherein she was honored and gave the student address. Nancy had a strong personality that made everyone look up to her. She was always willing to help and give guidance. She loved the Jersey Shore and spent all her summers in Ocean Beach with her family and friends. She is survived by her loving husband of 23 years David G. Spiller; her two sons that were her pride and joy, Jake Connor Spiller and Max Alexander Spiller both at home; her parents, Ernest and Lorraine Matiunas Dragos of Colonia. Nancy is also survived by her two caring sisters Denise and her husband, John Eichler, and their charming daughter, Larisa, of Winston-Salem, NC and Nicole and her husband, Chris Patricola, and their two beautiful children, Rhyen and Alexandra, of Mount Pleasant, SC. Nancy has several Aunts and Uncles as well as many Cousins and dear friends which she adored and always looked forward to seeing and visiting with. She was admired and loved by all friend and family alike. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Dr. Nancy A.
