Moon Shin Choe (aka Choi Sung Kap), of the Avenel section of Woodbridge township, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at home.  He was 84 years old.

Born in Haenan-gun, South Korea, he came to the United State in 1977 and resided in the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township for the past 43 years.

Before immigrating to the United States, Mr. Choe was a professional boxer, holding the title of Asian middleweight champion from 1965 to 1969. During that time period, he was one of the most famous athletes in South Korea. Once in the United States, Mr. Choe owned and operated Ted's Cleaner's in Woodbridge for over 20 years.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years Ok Hyon Choe (nee Park); a daughter June Farrell (née Choe) and her husband Shawn of Cinnaminson, NJ; a son Chul Choe and his wife Minsun; and three grandchildren Madeline, Elianna, and Cayden.

A Visitation will take place on Friday, November 10, 2023 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue in Woodbridge.

A graveside service will take place Saturday, November 11, 2023 10:00 am at Hazel Wood Cemetery, Lake Avenue, Colonia.
